SONJA MARIE Van Der Maas Herold is a classically-trained soprano soloist. She’s sung in English and Norwegian choirs since her childhood, and trained with lyric, spinto soprano and recording artist Florence Mesler (B Mus., M Mus.) as well as performer and vocal coach Robert Kuyber, who trained Metropolitan opera stars Beverly Sills and Placido Domingo. She currently balances her life as a teacher, mom, and caregiver to her elderly mother with her passion for singing, is a cantor and choral member at her church and a soloist for special occasions, weddings and memorials. Some of her personal inspirations include Sandi Patty, Andrea Bocelli and Edvard and Nina Grieg and both of her debut CDs reflect this diverse mix of influences. Her albums encompass everything from prayerful hymns to swelling, inspirational ballads in English, Norwegian, Latin and Spanish and she is thrilled to be sharing this project with you!
